I’m really excited to be one of the co-chairs of the Maintainers track at SciPy 2026. It’s happening July 13-19 2026, and I’d love for you to submit a talk. In particular, I want to list some talks that I wish existed, but don’t right now. There are many people qualified to give these talks, but may not think they are. I know many, many people (including me!) would love to hear them. So submit away.

  1. How has your relationship as a maintainer to the community changed as you became a parent?
  2. “I got venture capital to fund my open source project, and this is my experience so far”
  3. “I left the scientific python community due to burnout, and this is why.”
  4. “I have been a maintainer in different communities over my life, and this is how the Scientific Python community is different.”
  5. “My partner is a long term scientific python maintainer, and this is how I see that community”
  6. “It is 11:30 PM here, and this is how I contribute to the scientific python community” (discussing working across timezones that are far away)

Don’t you wish these some of these talks already existed so you can listen to them? I know I do. So submit a talk and make your (and my) wish come true :)
